Classes at Claynorth

Hands on,
unhurried.

Our classes make space for practice. Come as a complete beginner or pick up where you left off; either way, the clay gives you a clear next step.

People working with clay around a long table

First wheel

This two-hour session is a welcoming way to meet the wheel. We demonstrate centring, opening and pulling, then stay close while you try it yourself. Choose up to two pieces for us to trim, glaze and fire. Wear comfortable clothes; we provide aprons and all materials.

Handbuilding table

Slow down with pinch, coil and slab construction. This relaxed session is ideal if you prefer sculptural forms, textured surfaces or simply want a more conversational way to work. Your work is finished in a studio-selected glaze after firing.

Four-week practice

For makers ready for repetition, this small course gives you a weekly place at the wheel. Each week develops a useful skill—from lifting walls to attaching handles—while leaving room to follow your own ideas. Places are intentionally limited.

For private gatherings, tell us the size of your group and the kind of afternoon you have in mind. We will suggest a format that feels personal, practical and easy to enjoy together.
